COWS FOR SALE

About Our Herd

Our management system utilizes a south facing shed with bedding pack for housing, grass hay all year, and daily paddock moves during grazing season. Although we are not certified organic, we do not use chemicals on our farm.  Supplemental grain, when fed, is a non-GMO mix that we make ourselves consisting of steam rolled barley, whole oats, and roasted soybeans for added protein in the winter.  The cows have access to 8 free choice vitamin/mineral combinations plus sodium bicarbonate, diatomaceous earth and plain salt.

The girls are milked once daily in the morning with a NuPulse bucket system and are allowed to have their calves with them until weaning, which is typically from 3-5 months of age.  They do very well on this regimen which ensures that the calves are raised in a normal social environment with an optimum immune system.

Our farm is a closed herd and all cows are free from TB, Johne’s and BLV. A2A2 testing is completed by the UC Davis genetic testing lab and we ask that any additional testing on animals listed for sale be done at the expense of the interested party.

We strive to find the best fit for each of our animals and do not want you to feel hurried to make a purchase. Once committed however, we will ask for a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the purchase price of the animal with the balance due at the time the animal leaves the farm. We will take care of all fees associated with the registration transfer and ask that all other health requirements (health certificate, pre-purchase exam or other testing) be done at the expense of the interested party.

SOLD: Stoney Hill Verdict Chamomile $4000

Chamomile is a kind and easy going Jersey cow who is in her prime at 3 years old and a perfect picture of health. She has exceptional udder conformation, sound feet and legs and is an exuberant grazer. She is halter trained, easy to catch and thoroughly enjoys human companionship. Although she is currently used to being milked with a NuPulse bucket milker, given her gentle temperament, I am confident that she would also adapt well to hand milking.

*Please note that Chamomile is currently nursing her calf, and as such, she will need to remain at our farm until the calf is weaned, or approximately September 15, 2023. We will plan to have her confirmed bred prior to leaving, however since our cows often do not show good signs of estrus while nursing a calf, we may need to delay her departure date a bit. Alternatively, we will offer a $500 discount if you would like to arrange to have her serviced yourself so that you can enjoy her golden A2 raw milk sooner!

Contact Rachel with questions, or if you’d like to set up an appointment to meet Chamomile.
